Stampin' Up! Colorful Seasons Thank You Card

Hello Peaches! I hope you're enjoying your Labor Day weekend if you celebrate. We didn't do a whole lot here because I'm still recovering from an exhausting cold. BUT! Of course that didn't stop me from doing a little crafting. Well, I attempted. I kinda feel like it wasn't my best work, but I couldn't push myself too much or I would regret it later when I found my energy was drained. In any event, I hope you like the outcome.

I started this time with a color scheme that inspired me. Often times I'll have a few ink pads sitting on my table from a few ideas that I'll have tried out and they end up looking really pretty together. That's how my inspiration came about this time. I just love how Berry Burst, Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette, and Soft Sky look together. So that's the I used for today's card.

To start my card, I created a watercolor wash using Berry Burst first at the bottom, then as the Berry Burst gradient lightened towards the top, I mixed in a bit of Night of Navy which created a pretty deep purple in the center that gradually darkened into Night of Navy at the top. The key to a watercolor wash is to dab up pools of color on the edges. This removes the areas that would create hard lines. This will pick up some color, so you can go back and add more color if you desire.

After the watercoloring had dried, I die cut the branch and flowers from the Colorful Seasons bundle dies and went to add them to my background. However I felt that they got lost so I added a piece of vellum and a soft sky circle to make them pop more. After I added those layers, I still wasn't quite happy with it so I added another smaller circle in Navy and an Adirondack chair. I thought the white chair would set the color scheme off well. The last part was to add my sentiment. I inked my sentiment first in Berry Burst then took my sponge and dabbed on some Navy to the top portion to create an ombré effect. I added a few sequins and that finished my card! Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll see you next post!
