Stampin' Up! Lemon Zest Encouragement Card

It's Monday again, Peaches! This is the final week of July which not only means that the summer is almost over, but it also means my sweet little lady will be off to school again. It's kind of unbelievable to me that she's already a first grader. She actually told me that she is done going to school all together, lol. She says, "Mama, I just don't understand why I have to learn so much!" Of course I explained to her the significance of education as much as you can to a 5-soon-to-be-6-year old, but sometimes I forget how grown up she really is. We just can't wait to see what kind of an amazing woman she becomes. Now on to today's project!

I've been dying to use the Lemon Zest stamp set since I first got it. It's just a beautiful set that has a very textured look when stamped. It's so unique and makes me want a glass of lemonade every time I look at. As I played with it a bit, I found that I loved adding a watercolor look to the citrus. So I took some watercolor paper, and stamped the fruit in a few different colors of ink. To add the variation in color to the stamps, I first stamped in the lighter color. Then I took my sponge and lightly dabbed on some darker color. After I stamped a few citrus fruits on my background, I used my aqua painter to create the watercolor look. I also stamped two additional fruits to cut out and be layered on to my card panel.

For the sentiment, I stamped it in some Daffodil Delight and then used a sponge to lightly dab on some Lemon Lime Twist ink to create an ombré look. I added some Wink of Stella to finish off my card. Thanks so much for stopping by! I see you next post!!

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic Card #GDP097

Hello again, lovely Peaches! Today I'm participating in the weekly challenge over on the Global Design Project  page. This week is a color challenge and I'm excited to share my card that I've submitted for the challenge.

Update: my project was chosen as a winner for the week's color challenge!

The color challenge this week is using Crumb Cake, Berry Burst, and Wild Wasabi. If you would like to see all the amazing project samples, along with the weekly challenge, click here. I just love this combination together, the bright berry with the softer green and neutral colors.

I started with with some embossing paste, mixed with some Berry Burst re-inker, and used the Window Box Thinlits die to create a floral mask. I applied my Paste and you'll notice that the paste is a lighter shade of the Berry color. I did this intentionally because I wanted it to stand out on my Berry Burst cardstock background. You can influence the intensity of the color of your paste based on the amount of ink you add. If you would like a lighter color, use less ink or dilute with some water. If you want a more intense color, the ratio of re-inker to paste will change. You can just experiment to find the shade you are looking for. It's also fun to create new colors by mixing different ratios of different inks together. There are so many possibilities!

I stamped, die-cut, and added some leaves and a flower to my panel. I took some Crumb Cake cardstock and heat embossed my sentiment. Then as a final touch, I added some iridescent sequins to the center of my floral image. I just love how these sequins take on the color of the images around them, in this case, the flower. It was almost like I had the perfect matching sequins which I love! Well, that finishes my card for today! I hope you like today's project. Thank you so much for stopping by. See you next post!

Stampin' Up! This Little Piggy Card Using Embossing Paste With Embossing Powder

Hello, sweet Peaches and happy Monday! I had such a memorable weekend celebrating my mom's 60th birthday. We went to Pacifica Beach in California. It's one of my mom's favorite beaches, so my siblings and I drove the 2 1/2 hour drive to surprise her. It was so great because she had no clue and was completely shocked. In fact, it was pretty funny because my sister walked right up to her and she still didn't know what was going on until we all jumped up and yelled "Surprise!" The weather couldn't have been better. We played bocce ball, BBQed tri-tip, and our kiddos played in the sand and searched for sand crabs, while trying to run away from the waves. It was such a blast and I know she'll always remember this special day. I'm going to include a few pictures down below.

Well, onto today's project. I had quite a few girls on my team that were curious as to whether or not embossing powder could be used with the brand new embossing paste, so I experimented. I actually wasn't completely sure of what to expect for the outcome but I had some suspicions. In the past, to speed up drying time, I would use my heat tool. I found that if you let your heat tool get good and hot (about 30 seconds) and sporadically expose your paste to the heat in short bursts, you can dry it faster. However, if you expose it too long, it will bubble and crack. So I kept this in mind for my project using the powder and paste.

First, I watercolored my background in Tempting Turquoise with my aqua painter. After that I dried, I wanted puffy clouds for my background, so I used the cloud stencil and spread my embossing paste.  I wanted it to be a bit thicker because I was going for a "puffier" cloud look, so I applied it thickly over the stencil. Then I took my white embossing powder, mixed it with some Dazzling Diamonds glitter, and quickly added it to the paste. This is important because if the paste dries before you add the powder, it will not stick and emboss properly.

The next step was to dry it with my heat tool. I applied the same knowledge that I learned from hearing the paste on it own to how I used the powder with the heat tool. I was careful to not over heat it but I did want the paste to bubble a bit since I wanted my clouds to be puffy, so I used the heat tool just until it began to bubble. Then I pulled it away and it creates a really fun effect. I've included a close up of the clouds below so you can get an idea of the dimension that was created. I just love the paste and look forward to finding even more great and creative ways to use it. Thanks for stopping by and see you next post!

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic Card

Hello, sweet Peaches and happy Wednesday! I have a quick post/card for you today, using the "Oh So Eclectic" stamp set and coordinating dies. I just love how these dies all work so differently. In the die set, for example, there are the regular dies that cut out various shapes, there are some that will only cut out patterned sections, and there are even ones that only emboss into your cardstock for a simple, yet unique and textured look. I've used the first type to cut my leaves, the second for the diamond-shaped layer behind my heart, and the last type to emboss leaf patterns along the diagonal of my Peekaboo Peach cardstock.

I also created a watercolor background to peek out from behind my heart and die cut background. I used Bermuda Bay, Peekaboo Peach, and a little Lemon Lime Twist, with my Wink of Stella pen. I really like how all the layers created so much dimension. Well, that's my card for today! Thanks so much for stopping by and see you next post!
