This week over on the Global Design Project page, the these is Kids (Global Design Project 095). Check out all the wonderful projects that the team have created here.
I always seem to run out of boy birthday cards, so this challenge is perfect! I will generally create a few ahead of time to have on hand for later. So for today's card, I used the "No Bones About It" stamp set. This set is so darn cute! It's packed full of fun dino-themed sentiments and images. You can even stamp a party hat for the dinosaurs to wear. I love the footprints stamp. You could use it as a fun background stamp to create your own patterned paper, or for a path of prints that follow your dinosaur, or as I have done in my card, make footprints in the mud.
To create the footprints in the mud look, I first stamped the footprints stamp in Versamark ink onto watercolor paper and added white embossing powder. After I heat set the powder, I used my Chocolate Chip ink pad and my aqua painter to create a "muddy" path, surrounding/following the footprints that were embossed. This process is meant to be fun. Try not to think too hard about it and just add watercolor messily around your embossed images. One thing to keep in mind when watercoloring is how much water you're adding. If you don't like hard lines (which in this project's case, I think adds to the look of mud so it works), then go light-handed with the water, and as you add more color, dry between each layer. This will add depth and color without the hard lines. To finish the muddy look, I flicked some of the ink onto my watercolor panel at an angle with my aqua painter, and set it aside to dry while I worked on the rest of my card.
For the rest of my card, I cut out some greenery in a variety of Emerald Envy, Lemon Lime Twist, and watercolored paper. Then I used the Seaside embossing folder with some Lemon Lime Twist cardstock to add a bright panel behind my watercolored panel. I stamped my dino in Lemon Lime Twist and the bones in Emerald Envy, cut him out, and added him to my project. After stamping and cutting my sentiment, I added one final touch: the brand new Glitter Enamel Dots.
Well, that's today's card! Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your Monday and I'll see you on Wednesday!
