Stampin' Up! Fabulous Flamingo Watercolor Congratulations Card

Hey Peaches! Happy Monday! I have a lovely watercolor card for you today. You all know how I love incorporating this technique into my projects. I just love how I can be so free, and even a bit messy with the process, because here's the thing: I'm a super "type A" clean freak. Yes, I'll admit it. I hate messes, and when things are out of place. I can't even truly enjoy most things if I'm surrounded by any kind of disarray, so when I get to watercolor, I feel like I can really let go. I can do whatever I want to. I can just let the process happen. I can't even explain what happens, but it's always good and I come away feeling refreshed and energized with creativity. I just love watercoloring and I loved creating this card.

I started by taking the beautiful flamingo stamp(s) from the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set which is a multiple step stamp, and stamped her (I've decided my flamingo is a "her") first in Flirty Flamingo, then in Calypso Coral for the next two layers onto watercolor paper. Then, I took a few of my Stamp-n-write markers in the Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, and Rose Red to flick additional feathers onto the flamingo. To do this, I used the brush too end of the pen and in a feathering-flick motion, created the feathers in varied lengths and colors. Then, I took the stamp with the outlined body legs of the flamingo and just inked up the legs in Basic Black archival ink. I took my spritzer, filled with just water, and spritzed it lightly, just enough to get the colors to start to move, and then I heat set it to dry it.

After it dried, I took each marker, one at a time, and colored a bit in a piece of acetate and spritzed it with water till the ink beaded up and "smooshed" the ink all around the flamingo. Lastly, (it's important that you do this step at the end so the black ink won't bleed) I took my black stamp-n-write marker to color in her beak and eye. I cut around the image, added it, along with a few embellishments, to my card base, and that finished my card for today. Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you next post!
