There are times when I get in my craft room and just feel like I can’t come up with what I want to create. I have talked about a few of these strategies in previous blog posts, but I’m going to share one in particular today. One strategy I use is to look at my scrapbook layouts and take certain elements and details from that layout/design. For today’s card I used a recent scrapbook page that I created for my niece’s first birthday. I’ll post it below for comparison.
In the layout you can see that I took one of the watercolored flowers from the design and used it for my card. You may notice that my floral centerpiece has quite a bit of dimension. That’s because I watercolored on to Watercolor Paper and die cut it out with the floral die and then cut out 3 more of the same flower from Whisper White Cardstock, and layered them on top of each other. That’s how I created all of that dimension.
I also stamped the background with the same floral stamp in second generation (stamped off once then stamped onto my panel), in Smokey Slate Ink onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Additionally, I mimicked my scrapbook page by using the same Whisper White Baker’s Twine and a few sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment. And it was as simple as that!
