Die Cut Textured Backgrounds Using Petal Palette

Hello my lovely peaches! I have a couple cards today where I have created textured backgrounds using die cut shapes. Today I am using the Petal Palette Bundle. I took about 3 or 4 different dies from the die set and began die cutting with them from Whisper White Cardstock. After they were all cut out I took piece of 5” x 3 3/4” Whisper White Cardstock and adhered the die cut pieces all over the top of it in a random fashion. So basically when you’re done, you’ll have a white on white textured effect.

After the pieces have dried on top, I added a few more details. For example, for the floral card, I took the floral image from the set and watercolored it with my Aqua Painter in Daffodil Delight Ink and a mix of Emerald Envy and Lemon Lime Twist Ink for the leaves onto Watercolor Paper. I tried to keep these cards simple so that the backgrounds really stood out so I only added a few sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment as an embellishment to each of my cards.

The bird card uses the same technique. However instead of covering the entire panel with die cut images, I just used four in the center and added a few details on top. I used the same colors for my greenery and a bird from the Best Birds Stamp Set watercolored in Dapper Denim and Soft Sky Ink.

I just love the look of the texture that this technique adds . Even though there’s so much texture and layering, the cards are still quite simple, but elegant. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!
