Magical Day Mermaid and Dragon Birthday Cards

Hello peaches and happy Wednesday! I can't believe it's almost February! It seems like we were JUST celebrating Christmas, then New Year’s. I guess with February right around the corner (tomorrow!!!), I’ll need to get on some Valentine’s projects soon, but for now I have some fun celebration cards using some new products from the Myths & Legends Suite.

This suite has always been a favorite of mine from the new Occasions Catalog. I love all the sweet little mermaids, unicorns, and dragons from the set and the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) is no less magical. In fact, it’s the star of my projects today.

In both of my cards today I have cut out a few images from the DSP. I cut out dragon and a mermaid from two of different patterned papers. I’ve included a picture of this gorgeous 2-sided paper so you can see all the great designs and images.

After my images were cut out, I took my Stamping Sponges and my Bermuda Bay Ink Pad to blend some ink onto my Whisper White Cardstock for my dragon card and the Berry Burst Ink Pad was blended for my mermaid card. The key to a soft, even blend is to ink up your sponge, dab off a bit onto a scrap paper and then blend into your project. Dabbing off first will prevent any harsh, intense marks from getting onto your paper since the sponges are textured and can create this effect. I usually start really light and continue to add color until I am happy with the results.

After the ink blending was complete, I added some sparkles onto my dragon background using the sparkle stamp from the Magical Day Stamp Set and from the same set, I stamped some bubbles o to the background for my mermaid card. To finish off my cards I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!

  2. What is the white and black stripe on the right side?
How have you donne the Bermuda Bay sprakle on the Dragon card? Is it with Versamark and an other brand glitter powder?
How have you done the white spot on the mermaid card?
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Nancy! The striped piece was stamped with the Diagonal Striped Background Stamp, the sparkle comes from the coordinating die set, cut from the glimner paper in the same suite of products, and the “flicks” of white are done by adding some Whisper White ink onto a clear block and flicking it into my panel with my Aqua Painter. 😊
