Hang Your Stocking Christmas Gift Tags #GDP115

Hello Peaches! How was your Thanksgiving (if you celebrate)? Mine was great! It was my baby brother’s first year in his new house, so he wanted to host this year. It’s nestled on some beautiful property which made for great scenery for our holiday get-together. We all were a little unsure about how we would possibly fit 20-25 people in his house, but they came up with a great solution. They got some long tables, covered them with tablecloths, lined hay bales on both sides for seats, and covered the bales of hay with blankets so that they were softer to sit on. It was really the perfect set up for our Thanksgiving meal together. I’ve included pictures of our Thanksgiving down below if you’re curious. Now on to my projects for today!

This week I’m having fun participating in the Global Design Project #115. The theme this week is sharing the joy of Christmas. This can mean so many things. Perhaps you enjoy extra time family and friends or maybe baking yummy treats for those in need. Whatever the reason, this time of year brings so many wonderful ways to be joyful. Check out the Global Design Project Page to see what other great projects the team has come up with.

One of my favorite Christmas preparations that brings me so much joy is to create my own handmade gift tags. Actually, if you make a bunch of them, you can wrap them up and give them as a gift. Handmade gifts are the best!

Generally I like to begin with a set color scheme. This makes it easier for me for a few reasons. I feel like it takes a lot of the guesswork out of coming up with the perfect color combo. I can just mix and match different colored elements, creating new designs every time. I also love how I can just mass produce them easier with a set color scheme. I just cut out the same shape in all the different color combos I’m working with and mix and match. The other great thing is that if there are extra pieces, they won’t get wasted because I can just use them in another tag since they all match.

I chose to use Real Red, Emerald Envy, and gold for my colors. I added a little white here and there, but mostly just the other three colors. I took my Hang Your Stocking Stamps and Dies and began stamping and cutting a bunch of stockings from Real Red Cardstock, Emerald Envy Cardstock, and Gold Glimmer Paper. I also stamped a few in Real Red Ink and Emerald Envy Ink. After this was done the rest was easy.

I took all my stamped and cut images and began arranging them. I thought that adding some Layering Circles Dies and a few labels from the Lots of Labels Dies would be a great foundation to ground and arrange my stockings. After I assembled them the way I wanted, I punched a whole in the top so I could add string or ribbon later. That finishes off today’s projects! Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!
