Fancy Friday Blog Hop - For Family

Hey everyone and welcome to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! If you’re new the the Fancy Friday Blog Hops, we are a group of past and current Artisans that get together each month on the last Friday of each month to bring you crafty inspiration with monthly themes and challenges. I’m so honored and excited to be a part of this talented group! Now onto this month’s focus!

This month we are challenging ourselves to create a project for any family member. We could make a birthday card for daughter, a cousin, or brother. It could be a card for Mother's Day, Father's Day or graduation, etc. I decided to make a card for a friend's (my chosen family) daughter who is graduating from high school. I wanted to use a set that would inspire her to chase her dreams so I chose the aptly named Follow Your Dreams Bundle. This bundle is so dreamy, with encouraging sentiments, lovely dream catcher images, and feather dies that coordinate perfectly with the set. It's definitely a must-have, so if you like this set, I recommend snatching it up because it will be retiring soon.

Follow your Dreams Clear-Mount Bundle

For my card today, I wanted to create some dreamy watercolor feathers. I think these are one of my favorite elements from this set. I took some Watercolor Paper scraps and started on one end with my Wink of Stella Pen (for some added shimmer), spreading some Melon Mambo Ink and then the other end with Pacific Point Ink. Where they met in the middle, they made a lovely purple hue. I love to watercolor the paper first and then die cut my images out because then I get to choose to cut my favorite areas of color. I just love how they all turned out so different. This is probably why I love watercolor so much.

I have really been enjoying adding metallic embossed sentiments to my projects lately. I feel that this adds just a touch of elegance. I used Silver Embossing Powder to emboss  the "Follow Your" part of my sentiment and then die cut the "dream" from Silver Foil Paper. To finish it off, I added some Silver Metallic Thread and a few Rhinestones

Hopefully you can see in the image below how I've created some shimmer splatter. I achieve this effect by taking some Frost White Shimmer Paint and putting it in my Aqua Painter with some water and then tapping the brush against my finger to get the splatter on my card. It's subtle but so gorgeous in person.

I have made one other bonus card because I was just having so much fun with this set and wanted to use it before it retires.

I used the shimmer paint left over in my Aqua Painter to create a shimmery watercolor wash background. I just love the extra sparkle!

I hope You have enjoyed my card for today and don't forget to keep hopping for more inspiration. Up next on the hop is the incredibly talented Charlet Mallett

Needlepoint Nook - Stampin' Up Artisan Blog Hop

Needlepoint Nook

Well, hello peaches! Welcome to the Needlepoint Nook Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! Each month our very talented and creative team of designers will be bringing you inspiration, so get comfortable and have a ton of fun hopping along with us. You may have just arrived from the wonderfully talented Kaylee Van Es' Blog. Just over the moon about what she has created!

Today, we will be showcasing the Needle &Thread Bundle. These products come from the Needlepoint Nook Suite and all coordinate beautifully with sweet little buttons, colorful DSP (Designer Series Paper), and gorgeous thread-everything you need for that unique stitched look! What I love about this set is all of the fun stitched images and sweet sentiments. There are 17 stamps and 12 dies. Additionally, there are some fun dies that create stitched designs. There are so many possibilities!

flower and thank you needlepoint stamps and dies

For my first card, I stamped my flowers in second generation Smokey Slate Ink for a subtle look. I wanted to add a little something to them to dress them up a bit so another technique used here is the sprinkled embossing powder onto the petals. It's supper easy to do and creates a unique, textured look.

Here's how you do it:
  1. First, take your Aqua Painter and tap it randomly in spots on your flowers (make sure to do this before adding them to your card front).
  2. Next, take your Silver Embossing Powder and sprinkle it over those "water-sprinkled" areas. This will allow the powder to stick temporarily.
  3. Then use your Heat Tool to heat emboss those areas with the powder, and you'll end up with some lovely gold embossed sprinkles in your background.
Here's a closeup of the effect:

I'ts really very pretty and you can see that lovely stitched die used in my background here as well:

For my next card, I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to create a subtle embossed shape in my background. I think the rectangle dies pair perfectly with this entire suite. I have layered on a few flowers, images, and die cuts stamped in Powder Pink Ink and Smokey Slate Ink and die cut from Balmy Blue Cardstock. I finished it off with a little bling, of course, from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment.

My final card  uses some of that lovely Needlepoint Nook DSP in the background and more layering of stamped images and die cut elements. You can see how lovely that stitched label die looks cut in Balmy Blue Cardstock AND it coordinates with the Pretty Label Punch which I used to punch it out!. I just ADORE the stitched edge!

These products were so fun and inspiring and I know I had a blast using them. I hope you have enjoyed all of today's cards and designs (full list of supplies below). Keep hopping along and check out my other fellow teammates’ pages.
