Fancy Friday - New In-Color Fun

Hey everyone and welcome to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! If you’re new the the Fancy Friday Blog Hops, we are a group of past and current Artisans that get together each month on the last Friday of each month to bring you crafty inspiration with monthly themes and challenges. I’m so honored and excited to be a part of this talented group! Now onto this month’s focus!

This month it's all about the new in-colors, and while I haven't yet decided on a favorite, I chose to use them all! Here's a look at the 5 new colors which are Purple Posy, Seaside Spray, Pretty Peacock, Terracotta Tile, and Rococo Rose.
For my cards today, I decided to use one of my new catalog favs- the Royal Peacock Set. I used my Aqua Painter to add watercolor (in a gradient effect) in each color onto Watercolor Paper. Then I used the peacock feather die to die cut from the watercolored paper. Because I watercolored the paper first, I was able to place my feather die exactly where I wanted so I could choose how the gradient would show up on my die cut.

I also used the new In-color Stampin' Write Markers to flick on some ink spots onto my feathers.

I wanted to add coordinating colored rhinestones so I colored a few of the Rhinestones with my Blends in each of the new in-colors. I also added the scalloped edge of each coordinating in-color ribbon.

Here's a close-up of the other two cards:

I hope you have enjoyed my cards for today and don't forget to keep hopping for more inspiration. Up next on the hop is the incredibly talented Krista Frattin. You will be blown away by here designs!

Stampin' Up! Die Tips - Dry Embossing With Your Dies

Stampin’ Up! Dies have so many versatile uses that go beyond cutting paper, and I have a great one to share today! It’s quite easy and a great way to add texture and interest to your projects. For my project today I am using the To A Wild Rose Bundle which has the gorgeous Wild Rose Dies that I will use for my dry embossing technique.

Simply create your die cutting machine sandwich just as you would to emboss, only with one slight difference. First start with your cutting platform on the bottom. Next, add your cutting pad on top of your platform. Then add your Silicone Craft Sheet on top of the cutting pad. Add your cardstock, with the die placed in position, on top of that. And finally, top it all off with your second cutting pad and run it through your die cutting machine.

Depending on your machine’s configuration, you can also add additional shims to achieve more depth and definition. You are left with your own unique embossed design that is to die for (pun intended)! Here's a close up of the embossing:

Floral Essence - Stampin' Up Artisan Blog Hop

Perennial Essence

Well, hello peaches! Welcome to the Floral Essence Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! Each month our very talented and creative team of designers will be bringing you inspiration, so get comfortable and have a ton of fun hopping along with us. You may have just arrived from the wonderfully talented Kaylee Van Es' Blog. Just over the moon about what she has created!

Today, we will be showcasing the Floral Essence Bundle. These products come from the Perennial Essence Suite and all coordinate beautifully with the hand-painted Perennial Essence DSP (Designer Series Paper), and gorgeous Organdy Ribbon (plus more)-everything you need for that unique artistic or floral look! What I love about this set is the variety of floral images and sweet sentiments in the most gorgeous font. There are 14 stamps and this set coordinates with the Perennial Flower Punch. This perfect punch creates the loveliest flowers when you layer up the punched pieces. I just love all of the possibilities!

   FLORAL ESSENCE BUNDLE

For my project today, I created a scrapbook page. I was able to get a soft watercolor wash by first adding a thin layer of Gesso (a substance that is very similar to white acrylic paint, only thinner, prepares the surface for painting) to my 12 x 12 Whisper White Cardstock. Be sure to give the Gesso time to dry completely before adding any watercolor. Then I used my Aqua Painter to add subtle color in an ombre fashion, using Flirty Flamingo Ink, Grapefruit Grove Ink, and So Saffron Ink, making sure to blend wherever two colors met. Here's close-up a look at the effect:

I also watercolored a stitched circle in the same colors and embossed the sentiment in gold. I wanted the flowers to be soft and subtle as well, but to still stand out, so I embossed them in white onto Vellum Cardstock. I also took one of the leaf images and embossed it in gold throughout my background to tie everything all together.

Here's one more close-up of those beautiful flower images:

These products were so fun and inspiring and I know I had a blast using them. I hope you have enjoyed today's scrapbook page (full list of supplies below). Keep hopping along and check out my other fellow teammates’ pages. They have some pretty amazing projects to share. I’ve listed them, along with all products used below or you can just click the link below to hop to the fabulously creative Maike Beimler
