Oh So Eclectic Thank You Card

Hey peaches! I have a really fun card for you today! I think that if I share how I came up with the layout, it could be helpful to you when you find yourself “stuck creatively”. This card features the Oh So Eclectic Bundle which has the most beautiful and aptly named stamps and coordinating dies. I feel like every time I use this set, it’s so easy to create something artistic and beautiful.

There are times when I get in my craft room and just feel like I can’t come up with what I want to create. I have talked about a few of these strategies in previous blog posts, but I’m going to share one in particular today. One strategy I use is to look at my scrapbook layouts and take certain elements and details from that layout/design. For today’s card I used a recent scrapbook page that I created for my niece’s first birthday. I’ll post it below for comparison.

In the layout you can see that I took one of the watercolored flowers from the design and used it for my card. You may notice that my floral centerpiece has quite a bit of dimension. That’s because I watercolored on to Watercolor Paper and die cut it out with the floral die and then cut out 3 more of the same flower from Whisper White Cardstock, and layered them on top of each other. That’s how I created all of that dimension.

I also stamped the background with the same floral stamp in second generation (stamped off once then stamped onto my panel), in Smokey Slate Ink onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Additionally, I mimicked my scrapbook page by using the same Whisper White Baker’s Twine and a few sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment. And it was as simple as that! It’s so fun to create a design based of of another layout. I hope you have enjoyed my projects today! Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!

Guy Greetings Masculine Birthday Card

Hello, peaches! I have a masculine birthday card to share with you today! I know! I don’t do a ton of those type of cards, but they are definitely necessary. This card today was inspired by my father-in-law and features the Guy Greeting Stamp Set. Now this set has it all! It’s loaded with everything manly and I love that it has so many great guy greetings (very appropriately named I’d say).

To start of my card, I began with a piece of Smokey Slate Cardstock for my base. Then I took a piece of Watercolor Cardstock and some Smokey Slate Ink and used my Aqua Painter to paint stripes across it. Then after it dried, I distressed the edges for an added touch of masculinity.

Next I took a piece of the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) and made a banner end on one end and adhered it to my watercolor panel which I added to my Smokey Slate Cardstock base. Then I used my Best Badge Punch to punch out a piece of Vellum Cardstock. I stamped the word “classic” repeatedly across my vellum piece with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed it with White Stampin' Embossing Powder. I stamped and added my old fashioned car and finished off the rest of my card with a few stars from the Hearts & Stars Elements and Metallic Enamel Shapes. I hope you have enjoyed today’s card. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!

Celebrate You Rainbow Card

Hey peaches! So I created a rainbow card for my daughter’s lunchbox note about a week ago. I had some questions about how I made this card so I went ahead and made some regular sized versions of the original card.

Here's the original card:

To begin, I stamped a sun using the the Sunshine & Rainbows Bundle. Then I die cut it out and set it aside. I then took a piece of Watercolor Cardstock and die cut it out using the word “celebrate” from the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies. I kept the word inside the watercolor paper because I wanted to watercolor the word and it’s easier to hold onto while it is in negative part of the paper still. To watercolor the word I used my Aqua Painter and these ink colors: Flirty Flamingo Ink, Peekaboo Peach Ink, So Saffron Ink, Lemon Lime Twist Ink, and Bermuda Bay Ink. I began by coloring my first color on the first letter and then moved onto the next color, making sure to blend as I went. After coloring the word I set it aside to dry.

I used the rainbow thinlits to die cut each color band in the rainbow. I used the same coordinating colors of cardstock as ink colors used to color my word die cut: Flirty Flamingo Cardstock, Peekaboo Peach Cardstock, So Saffron Cardstock, Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock, and Bermuda Bay Cardstock. I also die cut a balloon and some clouds using the Up & AwayThinlits Dies and the dies from the Sunshine & Rainbows Bundle. I cut the clouds from Whisper White Cardstock, Vellum Cardstock, and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

I assembled all of my pieces on my card and used the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set to add a sentiment. To finish off my card, I added some Whisper White Baker’s Twine. I hope you liked my cards today. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!
