Stampin' Up! Follow Your Art - Watercolor Textured Card

Hey peaches! I have the cutest little "art" card for you today featuring a few products from the Follow Your Art Suite of products. I have really been enjoying working with this set and wanted to share one of my latest projects made with it.

Here's a look at this adorable bundle (pictured below). It has so many crafty images and coordinating dies for those artistically inclined people in your life. Well, let's be honest, even if you aren't  crafty, who wouldn't appreciate a card made with this sweet set?!

IT STARTS WITH ART BUNDLE

You may be wondering about my very colorful background. Well, it was created very easily. I used our brand new Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper , which is so lovely to use by the way. I have been asked for my opinion about any difference I have noticed between this new paper and the older watercolor paper, and so far I feel that it is more user friendly, especially to anyone new to watercoloring. With the previous paper, I really had to be careful  about applying water first then color and not over saturating my brush with color or I would get areas of color that would behave as if it were regular cardstock that I had applied it to. These spots of color would not move as the rest did. However, with the new paper, I have not had any trouble at all with this issue. I can apply wet on dry, wet on wet, or virtually any combination I like without having to worry about creating those darker stained spots. I love it!

For my background, I used Pacific Point Ink, Bermuda Bay Ink, and Daffodil Delight Ink. I love this color combo together and I think they're the perfect pairing for this set. Here's a close-up of the finished background:

Stamp Review Crew - Free As A Bird

Hello Peaches! FREE AS A BIRD BUNDLE

For this hop, we are featuring the Free As A Bird Bundle from the Bird Ballad Suite of products. I have made quite a few cards and projects with this stamps set because it's such a beautiful and versatile set. 
I went for a bold look so the natural choice for me was to use the brand new Incolor Pretty Peacock Cardstock  for my base panel. I also thought that Petal Pink would compliment the peacock color so I used a bit of the Petal Pink patterned paper from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (DSP).



  I wanted to add a little bit of extra texture so I roughed up the edges of the stitched die cut edges. It's super easy and if you've never done it before, here's how you do it:
  1. Take your Paper Snips and run them back and fourth along the area that you'd like to rough up. You're essentially breaking down the fibers in the paper.
  2. Once the paper is more "pliable" you can feel the layers apart for a more textured look, super simple! 


I made a second bonus card with this set, only this time I went with a softer look. Here's a close-up of the finished product:

Fancy Friday - Favorite New Annual Catalog Item

Hey everyone and welcome to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! If you’re new the the Fancy Friday Blog Hops, we are a group of past and current Artisans that get together each month on the last Friday of each month to bring you crafty inspiration with monthly themes and challenges. I’m so honored and excited to be a part of this talented group! Now onto this month’s focus!


This month we get to choose our favorite new item from the Annual Catalog, and while I have many favorites, the We'll Walrus Be Friends Set just makes me smile.This set has the cutest walrus images with a few fish sprinkled in, and the sentiments are just too adorable. It's definitely a must-have.
WE'LL WALRUS BE FRIENDS CLING STAMP SET
I made two cards today. My first card uses that gorgeous new Pretty Peacock Cardstock. I typically don't gravitate towards regal colors but this one is just so rich and beautiful. I wanted to ground my focal pieces so I used my Stitched Label Dies and embossed it into the background. I used my Smokey Slate blends to color my walrus. I just love his little eye brows.  


I couldn't help but make a second card because I was just having so much fun with this set and just couldn't stop stamping with it. I used my Aqua Painter to create a shimmery watercolor striped background to look like the ocean. I just love how beautifully Seaside Spray, Pacific Point, and Bermuda Bay Inks look together!


Hopefully you can see in the close-up image below how I've created some shimmer splatter. I achieve this effect by taking some Frost White Shimmer Paint and putting it in my Aqua Painter with some water and then tapping the brush against my finger to get the splatter on my card. It's subtle but so gorgeous in person.
