Cake Soirée Birthday Card With Dry Embossing

Hey Peaches! Happy Monday! I hope you had a happy and restful weekend. Mine was quite relaxing and filled with crafting my little girl. She will be celebrating Valentine’s Day in a few weeks at school and of course we weren’t going to buy cards if we could make them! So we came up with a fun design and she picked a color scheme (which I LOVE! It’s so non traditional and fun!), and we began assembling. It was so special to watch how she crafted and her sweet little hands would try their hardest to adhere that heart perfectly in the center. She did so great and was quite proud of the results (as was I). I will include a few pictures of her putting them together at the end, but for now, I’ll get onto my card for today.

I have a couple of special birthdays coming straight in the beginning of February so I wanted to start creating those sooner than later. The card today used quite a few products from the Sweet Soirée Suite. This suite is one of my favorites from the new Occasions Catalog. It has such a gorgeous color scheme and the coordinating products are to die for. I find myself using them in just about ALL my cards, lol!

I started by using the Cake Soirée Stamp Set and coordinating dies. I stamped the solid cake image in Marina Mist Ink and the added the detailed layer with Versamark Ink and added Silver Embossing Powder and heat set it. Then I went on to create my background. To get the dry embossed look by using your dies you need to arrange your “Bigshot sandwich” just as you would if you were going to emboss (I have more details on how to do this in my previous “Embossing With Butterflies Instagram Tip” post), with the exception of adding your Silicone Craft Sheet underneath your cardstock. This will create a cushion of sorts for your die to press into without actually cutting your paper. I took the “bow” looking die and placed it cutting side down on my cardstock panel and ran it through my Bigshot repeatedly until I was happy with the results. Here’s an up close look at the delicate detail it added.

After the background was complete, I began to assemble the rest of my card. I stamped a few flowers onto some Vellum Cardstock and So Saffron Cardstock and die cut them out. I also cut a few flourish-y leaves from the die set out of the So Saffron Cardstock as well. Then I added a few extra embellishments from the Sweet Soirée Embellishment Kit. Lastly, I took Silver Metallic Thread and sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment and added them to my card and that finished off my card for today. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!

Here are the pictures of my daughter creating her valentines. I think this was the favorite part of both of our day.
