Dragonfly Dreams Birthday Card

Hello peaches and happy Monday! I hope you were able to catch our Sure Do Love You Artisan Blog Hop. If you did, feel free to click on the link. This hop was packed full of amazing projects and ideas that you’re sure to love!

With the blog hop and my Stampin’ Up! corporate post it has been a busy week and I’m now ready to start fresh with a new week and new inspiration. My card today actually came together because of some beautiful paper. Has that ever happened to you? You see some gorgeous paper and you think, “I have got to use that on a project!”, and then inspiration strikes! Now for some of us (totally guilty here), the next step is a battle as to whether we want to use that pretty paper or to hoard it, lol. Well, I’m happy to report that today I resisted the urge and used that gorgeous Desiner Series Paper (DSP) just as it was intended. You’ll see how the paper works perfectly in my card today.

The DSP that I was inspired by is from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog. It’s called Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper. It has some of the most playful and bright colors and images. It’s designed to go with the Bubble Over Set but as soon as I saw the beautiful bright yellow patterned piece, I saw honeycombs! I’ve included a picture of this DSP below.

So that’s where the inspiration started and here’s how the rest of the card came together. I started by using the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp Set and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. Now even though this stunning set is packed full of delicate dragonflies, it also has some lovely bee images and coordinating dies, so of course I needed to use those sweet little honeybees with my honeycomb paper right?!

So to start my card, I began with my typical white base cut from Thick Whisper White Cardstock. Then I cut the DSP at 4” x 5 1/4” for my first panel. I really wanted that to show in my background so my next layer was cut much smaller. To continue with my honeycomb theme, I embossed this layer with the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (try to say that 10 time’s fast, haha). I layered that onto a piece of Basic Black Cardstock cut at the same size and I distressed the edges with my Paper Snips. Then I adhered those two panels on top of my DSP panel.

Next, I cut a circle out and inked a potion of it in Daffodil Delight Ink with my Sponge Dauber. I then took my Starburst Punch and punched out a circle from Silver Glimmer Paper. I also stamped the bee image in Basic Black Ink onto Daffodil Delight Cardstock. I die cut a bee from Basic Black Cardstock as well. I added some Black Sequin Trim and Silver Metallic Thread behind my circle layers and added my bees and sentiment on top. To finish off my card, I added some Metallic Enamel Shapes and that finished off my card for today. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!

Small Changes, Big Difference Amazing You Cards

Hey Peaches! I have the honor to be sharing my creativity on Stampin' Up!'s company blog. If you'd like to see it you can go to their Stampin' Up! Facebook Page and see it under their "notes" section or just click here. Today I will be giving you a little sneak peek into my creative process. I just know you’re going to love what I have to share today!

Often times I like to create projects/cards in multiple quantities for certain events like birthdays, showers, etc. If I try to come up with a new design for each one, it can become quite time consuming (and quite frankly, a little boring). To remedy this, I come up with a generic design or layout and just change one aspect of my project.

For example in my cards today, I kept everything the same in my cards except I changed the background. I colored the flowers, from the Sale-A-Bration set Amazing You, the same, used the same accents, and even put all of the elements in the same orientation. To change up my background, you’ll notice my first card uses the Simple Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

In my second card, I took the same size WhisperWhite Cardstock and cut strips of various cardstock colors to create a striped pattern. I cut small strips of 1/8” x 4” Gold Foil Sheets, 1/4” x 4” Berry Burst Cardstock, and 1/2” x 4” Tempting Turquoise Cardstock and adhered them in a pattern on my card panel.

You’ll notice there is a major difference between the two cards and all I did was change one element of my cards’ design. This strategy could also work if you have a layout or design element that you just love; you can carry over that desired aspect on to a new project and get beautiful results that you’re sure to love. It takes the guess work out of designing new projects and allows you to create efficiently without losing any uniqueness to your creations.

I hope that this little creative tip was helpful and will encourage you to look at each of your creations with new limitless potential. After all, if you can get more out of your crafting with minimum frustration and maximum enjoyment , you will feel more successful and inspired to create more often. Well, those are my projects for today! Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you next post!

Sure Do Love You - Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Well, hello peaches! Welcome to the Sure Do Love You Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! Each month our very talented and creative team of designers will be bringing you inspiration, so grab your favorite snack and beverage and have a ton of fun hopping along with us. You may have just arrived from Kim McGillis' Blog; her creativity is just breathtaking isn't it?!

Today, I will be showcasing the Sure Do Love You Stamp Set and Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Painted with Love Suite of products. These gorgeous products are quite perfect for a love-themed scrapbook layout as you will see in my project below.

I wanted to create a background that mimicked one of the designs of the coordinating DSP. To achieve this look, I took a brush and painted on a few brushstrokes of white, using my Whisper White Ink and then a few strokes with my Berry Burst Ink Pad onto a piece of 12"x 12" Crumb Cake Cardstock. I set this aside to dry. I also wanted a few gold brushstrokes so after the painted  portion had dried I took the Painted Love Gold Vinyl Stickers and added some of the gold brushstroke stickers to my background.

Next, I cut a 4"x 6" piece of the Painted with Love DSP and mounted it onto a 4 1/4" x 6 1/4" piece of Berry Burst Cardstock. I added a photo from my wedding pictures and added some Gold Love Mini Tinsel Trim behind my photo before adding it to my background. I also took a few of the gold hearts from the Painted Love Gold Vinyl Stickers and added them to my layout. I added a few floral accents using the dies from the Petals and More Thinlits Dies

To finish off my layout I added a sprinkle of the Gold Glitter Flakes. You can see how they add just the right finishing touch.

Keep hopping along and check out my other fellow teammates’ pages. They have some pretty amazing projects to share. I’ve listed them, along with all products used below or you can just click the link below to hop to the very talented and inspiring Linda Van Wely-Zwolle
