Star of Light Snowflake Christmas Card

Hey Peaches! I wanted to show you an example of how to get creative with your dies and stamp sets. One of the things that I love about Stampin' Up! is that their product is so versatile! I love how creative you can get by thinking outside the obvious intended purpose of each product. I mean the only limit is your imagination, and that's what makes crafting so fun to begin with, right? The possibilities are endless.

This stamp set and coordinating dies are named Star of Light and the entirely stunning images/dies are beautifully designed to look like the star that led the wise men to baby Jesus that night. I can see so many gorgeous projects being made with this set. You could make ornaments with some sparkling gold glimmer paper, a breathtaking night sky scene, or even some elegant gift tags. When I say this set, I first thought about using the dies to create a fun star border along one edge of my card, but after cutting the pieces out, I looked a little closer at the stars. I thought that they would make such pretty snowflakes. So I first took a piece of watercolor paper and my Tempting Turquoise ink pad. I squeezed the stamp pad base and lid together to get some ink in the well of the lid so that I could watercolor with my aqua painter. After I created my watercolor background, I added my sentiment in Basic Black. After I decided on where I wanted to place my "snowflakes", I adhered them to my watercolor layer and trimmed off any pieces that hung over and adhered that layer to my base layer. Lastly, I added some bling. I added some Wink of Stella (just to the snowflakes), some jewel basic rhinestones, and clear sequins to finish it off. Thanks for stopping by and as always, all supplies used for this card are listed below. The stamp bundle will be available staring September 1st. You can just click on the links below and they will take you directly to the product! Thanks and see you next post!

Santa's Sleigh Elegant Christmas Shaker Card

Hey Peaches, I have another fun shaker card for you today!  This one is so fun and very easy to do. To start you'll need to use the tree finlet from the Santa sleigh thinlits dies and cut it out of a piece for Basic Black cardstock.  Now for my card, I wanted the tree centered on my black card stock. So you want to make sure that when you run it through the Big Shot that you tape it down with some washy tape onto the center of your card stock. Once you cut out to your tree,  you are going to use the negative space. So you will need to flip the black card stock with your tree cut out on its back and adhere a piece of acetate  that is just a little bit bigger than the tree image cut out, to the back. Then you will need to create a well around the tree image. To do this, while you're  card stock is still flipped over, use  foam strips to follow around just outside The clear center of the image,  making sure that you don't leave any gaps for the sequins to fall out. These foam strips are really great because they are really long strips that can be easily manipulated to fit  whatever image you are using.  Once you have created you're well you'll need to take your sequins and put them inside that well. Then remove the backing off of the foam strips and carefully adhere your base Cheery Cobbler card stock on top of your basic black tree layer.

For the sentiment I just took the stamp from the coordinating stamp set and stamped inverse and Mark onto the basic black card stock and then poured the silver embossing powder over it and heats of it. I also added silver glimmer paper to this project because I liked the sparkle is added.  For the final touch I added some basic black solid bakers twine to the top and tied a bow and then added a few extra of the clear sequins on top. And that's the project! Thanks for stopping by and as always, all supplies used for this card are listed below. The stamp bundle will be available staring September 1st. You can just click on the links below and they will take you directly to the product! Thanks and see you next post!

Santa's Sleigh Christmas Card

Hey Peaches, now I know what you are all thinking when you read the title of this post-it's too early to be even thinking of Christmas, much less making Christmas cards. However in the card making world, we have to start now! I mean, I don't know about you, but I have tons of cards to send out for the holidays and I like to make each and every one special and unique. Now you may prefer to choose a few simple designs and just mass produce them (which is probably the most sane way to do it, haha), but I do this for fun, for the art of it, so I get kinda bored making the same card over and over. Anyway, I digress.

This card was so much fun to create! As many of you know, I've really been loving working with the ink blending technique. Which by the way, you can check out in my previous blog tutorials if your curious about the technique. But I knew, when I planned this card, actually if we're being honest here, I've planned this card since I first laid eyes on this stunning bundle from Stampin' Up! But I knew that I wanted to create this peaceful, deep sky background for my sleigh. Now you could use this set for so many beautiful things; it's so versatile. You could create gorgeous Christmas tags, a fun calendar to countdown to the holidays, make fun 3-D projects for home decor or even table decorations for holiday get togetherness! I mean the possibilities are endless!

For my first project though, I really wanted to create this design. I wanted the trees to be almost shadow ms in the background so I used Basic Black cardstock and cut them out seamlessly with the coordinating dies. And by the way, these gorgeous sets will be available to purchase through Stampin' Up! on September 1st and I have a feeling they'll go fast! This does set has such gorgeous intricate designs such as the sleigh.  I also wanted to create more dimension to the sleigh so I cut it out several times and then adhered each piece to each other, creating a thicker version of the sleigh. Well next I thought about the flourished layer of the sleigh and it was just screaming at me to use some silver glimmer paper and I love the results. Now I was afraid that the rest of the sleigh would get lost in the background so I just took the white chalk pen to add some details and I think it turned out nicely.  For the snow bank, I simply cut a hilly-type mask and added some Whisper White ink, along with some white embossing powder. Just a note: as the white ink is a pigment ink, it dries slower so be careful not to smear it before it dries. Since I covers mine in embossing powder and then heat set it, I didn't have to worry about smearing it. For the snowflakes in the night sky, I just stamped in Versamark ink (another slow drying ink) and then added more white embossing powder and heat set it. Lastly, I didn't want to cover up the beautiful night sky so I cut a piece of vellum and stamped the sentiment, also in this set, in StazOn black ink. Now be careful when using this ink on slick surfaces as it can smear easily. But that is my card for today! Thanks for stopping by and as always, all supplies used for this card are listed below. The stamp bundle will be available staring September 1st. You can just click on the links below and they will take you directly to the product! Thanks and see you next post!

Flourishing Phrases Sympathy Cards

Yep, that's right, peaches, I've got two sympathy cards for you. You know how I said it was a GOOD thing to not have a need for these cards? Yeah, well, life happens, and while so many of us have felt the bitter sting of losing someone you love, your heart still aches for the loss. It's a feeling that is compounded by having to deal with my own emotions and sadness. For me, it's a struggle because I want to be there for whomever is suffering in any way that I can, but feel so helpless in this endeavor. So, I have found that doing what I can with the gifts that God has given is one way I can serve others in their time of sorrow. Even if it's not much, sometimes having something tangible, like a thoughtful card, can remind them that they are truly surrounded by so much love. And it's as simple as that!

For my cards today, I wanted a soft, watercolor effect. I lightly brushed strokes of ink with my aqua painter with Perfect Plum at the top half and then Melon Mambo for the bottom portion. If you've never tried the aqua painters before, they are so amazing to work with. I even use them for painting with my daughter. The water is filled in the barrel of the pen and you simply squeeze the barrel to release some water. No mess of having a cup of water or anything!

For my second card, I wanted the watercoloring to be restricted to just around my die cut, but didn't want to accidentally paint over the die itself, which by the way, is simply breathtaking. It's from the Flourish thinlits and is, in my opinion, a ctafter's must have! But anyway, to keep the watercolor where I wanted it, I took the negative piece from where I cut the die cut from, placed it where I planned to have my die cut, and traced lightly with my pencil, so that I would have a general area to work with. The just erase the pencil marks and adhere the die to that space once dry.

For the sentiment on each, I just stamped it in Versark embossing ink, which is a slow drying ink, great for adding embossing powder and heat embossing . Lastly I heat embossed with Whisper White emboss powder, and added a few sequins. So fun and very simple. As always the supplies used to make these cards are listed below. Thanks so much for stopping by and please leave me a comment if you like what you see! I greatly appreciate your kind feedback!
