Beautiful Peacock - Stampin’ Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Well, Peaches, here it is! I’m so excited to welcome you all to my first official Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! You may have just arrived from Kim McGillis' Blog, so welcome to my page! Each month our very talented and creative team of designers will be bringing you inspiration, so prepare to be amazed and inspired!

I so honored and excited to be representing the United States, and for those of you new to my blog, my name is Lauren Alarid and I live in California, USA. I have an incredible husband and a beautiful daughter who loves crafting as much as I do. I joined Stampin' Up! in 2016 and have been in love with the quality products ever since. For all of my returning followers, thank you so much for all of your continued support and welcome and hello to those who are just joining me! Now on to the projects!

Today, I have the pleasure of showcasing my favorite set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, Beautiful Peacock. This exquisite set is so versatile. The feathers make gorgeous plumes, whimsical flourishes, or elegant swirls. The possibilities are endless.

As soon as I saw this set, I instantly knew my color scheme. It had to be Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist, and Emerald Envy. They seemed like the perfect combo for a peacock. I did a little bit of ombré stamping (where I start with inking my stamp in a lighter color and then use my Sponge Dauber to add a darker color on one end in a gradient). I made quite a few of them because I wasn’t sure how many projects I was going to make; plus, I love having lots of options. I used the new Shimmery White Embossing Paste to create a whimsical, glimmery background. To finish off my cards took a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels and used my Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Marker to color them to match my cards.

I had so much fun with this set I couldn’t stop! I also made a few small 3x3 note cards. I love to create a small “lunchbox” version of my cards so that I can include them in my daughter’s lunch each day.  I just love this set and I think you will too!

I also wanted to show you how I used my new Artisan Team Stamp on the back of my cards. I just LOVE it!

Keep hopping along and check out my other fellow teammates’ pages. They have some pretty amazing projects to share. I’ve listed them, along with all products used below or you can just click the link below to hop to Linda Van Wely-Zwolle. She is amazingly talented and you're going to love what she has created!

I also wanted to mention that Stampin' Up! features a corporate blog post each Thursday of the month where we Artisans share creative tips, tricks, and strategies. You can find these posts in the "notes" section of the Stampin' Up! Facebook Page. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!

Embossing With Butterflies Instagram Tip

Hey peaches, Happy Wednesday! I'm so excited to share my first Instagram tip with you! Every Tuesday of the month you can find helpful tips and tricks on the Stampin' Up! Instagram Page. You can also find my account and follow me here or search @lalipeach.

Today's tip may or may not be new to you. I, myself, have been doing this technique for years. Basically, you are using your dies to create embossed images. I love being able to find new ways o stretch my dies, and since we all know that dies are not cheap, it's great when we can use them for more than they are intended.

To start you will need your Big Shot along with it's included accessories (platform, plates, etc.), Silicone Craft Sheet, and of course, your die(s). For my project today, I will be using the Butterfly Thinlits Dies

When I make cards to send, I often like to dress up my envelopes as well, typically with matching images. To match a butterfly card that I made, I wanted to add an embossed butterfly image to the flap of my envelope. Here's how you do it:

First arrange your "sandwich" in this order (from bottom to top):

1. Big Shot Platfom
2. Thin Die Adapter
3. Bottom Cutting Plate
4. Silicone Craft Mat
5. Cardstock/Paper/Item to be embossed (in my case, Whisper White Medium Envelope)
6. Top Cutting Plate

See Picture Below:

You'll also notice that I used washi tape to secure my die in place. this is not necessary, but it will ensure that my die does not shift when I run it through my Big Shot. After you have run your envelope and die through, you will have a beautifully embossed image. If you wish to get an even deeper impression you can add layers of cardstock to your sandwich. Play around with the configuration until you are happy with the results.

I've also included my finished matching card so that you can see yet another way to stretch your dies. For this card, I used the die cut butterfly as a stencil to add embossing paste and the brand new Brusho Crystal Color. I love how the die cut "stencil" kept the Brusho contained to the butterfly shape.

Well, that's my tip/technique for today! Come back next post for more fun projects and helpful techniques and tips!

Seaside Shore Thank You Card

Hello sweet peaches! How was your weekend? Mine was really great. I got to visit with my sister, niece, and nephew. I just love our precious, sweet moments together. Then, I pretty much played catch up on a lot of the chores around the house. I know that sounds pretty boring, but i couldn’t be happier than when I have an organized and clean home. Truth be told, organizing relaxes me. It really was a productive but lovely weekend.

Well, I suppose I should get on with my card. For today’s card I used the Seaside Shore Stamp Set. I really love this set and almost for got about it for a while with all the new stuff in our newest catalog. I felt it should get a little love.

I started with a piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock and used the bubble stamp from the set to stamp in Versamark Ink. Then I added Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder and my Heat Tool to heat set it. I stamped a few fish and colored them in all sorts of tropical colors before settling on Bermuda Bay. The two colors I used were the Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends. I also watercolored some seaweed with my Lemon Lime Twist Ink Pad cut some greenery from the green glimmer paper from the Myths & Magic Glimner Paper Pack. I added some Silver Metallic Thread and finished of my card with some sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment. And that’s today’s card! Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!
