Stampin' Up Jar of Love Rainbow Ombré Watercolor Card

Happy Cinco de Mayo, Peaches! I wanted to squeeze in a quick card before I head up to Tahoe for the weekend. This card has a very colorful background. To create this look, I took 6 different muted Stampin' Up! ink colors and used my aqua painter to add stripes in each color. I didn't let the panel dry in between colors so that they would mix together a bit, creating a sort of rainbow ombré effect. After I added all my colors, I went back added a few more stripes of color to intensify some areas.

While my panel dried, I used the Jar of Love bundle to create a jar/base of flowers as the main focal image. I also watercolored inside the jar itself with Pool Party ink to make it look like it had water in it. This card is intended as a Mother's Day Card, so I added a heat embossed sentiment to reflect the occasion.

One other tip for this card is that when arranging your flowers and sprigs of greenery, I like to lay it out first and arrange it how I like it. Then when I like how it's arranged, I will either snap a picture as a reference or I will even take a small piece of "Press-n-seal" (used to cover and preserve food) and press it on top of my arrangement. This will allow it to stick to the Press-n-seal so you can lift the entire piece up, flip it over, add adhesive, and stick it down as one whole piece. It makes it super easy.

Stampin' Up! Flourishing Phrases Card

It's Wednesday Peaches, and today I have a fun card, loaded with texture and color! Typically when I have a deeply vibrant focal image, I like to have a more clean, simple background. That way the focal point really stands out. For both of my cards today, I wanted a light background, so I inked them with some Flirty Flamingo ink, using a die cut from the Flourishing Phrases thinlits dies as a stencil on one and just simply ink blended over my embossed panel on the other. It's important, when blending the ink on, to use a light hand and slowly add more color. As I always say, "You can always add more color, but you can take it away." I also recommend having a scrap paper to dab some ink off of the dauber before adding it to your project to avoid any harsh lines created by heavier areas of your sponge/dauber being inked.




For my focal images, I die cut some floral designs, using the same dies and watercolored them with my ink pads and a aqua painter. Lastly, I added a small layer of vellum and my sentiment, along with some gems and ribbon. Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Stampin' Up! Special Reason Watercolor Card #GDP085 #GDPwinner

Happy Monday Peaches! For today's post I'll be participating in the Global Design Project color challenge. This week's challenge features a card by Anna Krol, using the 2015-2017 Stampin' Up! in-colors. Here's my project:

Here's the challenge colors:

You all know how much I love watercolor, but I wanted to add more texture and dimension to my card, so I took the small and large leaf dies from the Stylish Stems framlits dies and die cut a bunch from watercolor paper. I adhered them in a fun, sort of "falling" pattern to my watercolor paper layer. I then, took my Mint Macaron ink pad, squeezed some ink from the pad into the well of the ink pad lid and used my aqua painter to add some color. I also added some Cucumber Crush to accent the leaves with a bit more vibrant areas of color. After the watercolor was dry, I added flicks of Whisper White craft ink with my aqua painter.


After it dried, I added a flower from the Special Reason stamp set in Watermelon Wonder, along with some layered leaves in Cucumber Crush cardstock. Lastly, I added some Wink of Stella for some sparkle and a few pearls to finish it off. I tried to capture the sparkle in the final photos.
